The Comptroller of Public Accounts is the state agency providing oversight and administration of tobacco enforcement laws in Texas.  This site has information on permitting tobacco retailers, laws and administrative rules regarding the sales and possession of tobacco in Texas.

The mission of DSHS Tobacco Prevention and Control is to reduce the health effects and economic toll tobacco has placed on the citizens of Texas. Major goals are:

• To eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke

• To promote tobacco cessation among adults and youth

• To prevent initiation of tobacco use by youth

• To identify and eliminate disparities among diverse/special populations

DSHS also funds 11 regional Prevention Resource Centers around the state, as well as the DSHS Mental Health and Substance Abuse Information Center/RADAR State Center, an extensive library of prevention materials available for use.
